There’s a high chance that you’re familiar with the man they call “The Mountain.” Standing at a whopping 6-foot-9 and weighing 450 pounds, you probably don’t need us to tell you why he’s been given such a nickname. Over the course of his career, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson has become the World’s Strongest Man, a Hollywood actor, and all-around legend, but what you might not know is that he has also been approached by various sports leagues to join their ranks. This means that an NFL career could be on the cards…

A Man of Intense Strength
Even if you don’t follow him on social media and watch his record-breaking deadlifts on Instagram Live, you probably know who Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson is. Often called “The Mountain” and “Thor,” this Icelandic beast made waves when he took on a major role in the Game of Thrones franchise. This helped him showcase his career as a man of intense strength, and he has since gone on to win countless accolades as one of the strongest men in the world.

Approached by the Best
Many people have noted that if The Mountain had been born in the United States that he would have immediately been directed into the world of NFL. Thanks to his size and his strength, he would have made a great addition to any football team. However, the Iceland native opted to head into the strongman world instead. He has had offers come his way, though. When he was a youngster he was offered the chance to become a professional basketball player, the WWE has tried to enlist him as one of their fighters, and he’s even had the Indianapolis Colts make a run for him in 2013. He turned down the NFL offer, but it seems as though you never know what’s on the table for this big guy.
Fingers crossed that the Mountain changes his mind.
