Sports fans love to celebrate with their players, but sometimes they can really overstep the mark. We all go wild in the stadium when the game is over, and our team wins, but most people can contain themselves and stick to the stands. Not everyone though, and an English Premier League goalkeeper was injured by a celebrating fan.

Why They Were Celebrating
Liverpool and Chelsea were playing each other in the UEFA Super Cup, which forces the winners of the Champions League and Europa League to play each other. The game was a close one and went all the way to extra time, and ultimately penalties. This was the time for the goalkeepers to shine as it would be up to them to stop their opponents from scoring.
Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Adrian, was making his first start for Liverpool after their first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson, injured himself in the previous match. Adrian made himself an instant hero with Liverpool supporters as it was his save that won them the Super Cup.

Running Onto The Pitch
One of the Liverpool supporters couldn’t contain himself and ran onto the pitch. Unfortunately, he was tackled by a security guard which sent the invader tumbling toward the huddle of Liverpool players. The pitch invader slid all the way into Adrian’s ankle, which injured the triumphant keeper.
It was touch and go whether he would make it to the next game, just a few days later, and Liverpool were forced to contemplate putting a youth player in goal. Luckily Adrian was able to make a good enough recovery to be declared fit for Liverpool’s next game, but it could have been so much worse.
Who needs rival supporters when your own fans are out to injure the players they are cheering on from the stands?
